Yarm1914 research found the following information about the Johnson family. Henry is not directly related to the two other Johnson's from Yarm killed in ww1.
Killed in action 17 September 1916, Henry was born in Hilton in 1892. Son of James Johnson a farmer at Fir Tree Farm in Hilton and his wife Jane Adelade. In 1901 Henry had 4 brothers, 3 sisters and 2 servants supported by his parents. Just after his parents married they had 5 servants helping with the farm. His father had learned to farm during the time he grew up with his grandparents on West Worsall Farm. By 1911 the servants had been replaced by their children on the farm. Henry and his three elder brothers were unmarried and worked on the farm. The eldest sister also called Jane Adelaide milked the cows. The other three children of James and Jane were at school.

The Yarm 1914 Commemoration Group is carrying out research on the soldiers listed. We are finding where they lived in Yarm and will represent the findings in a wall of poppies presentation.
